Sometimes people want partners for GLaDOS' tests but don't already have one in mind. That's why they need a TESTING POOL to pull from.

Every month, I'll put a log in ariel_logs for GLaDOS' sexual experiments. These threads do not require any kind of IC setup; we can handwave that your character has met GLaDOS and agreed to run some tests, or you can assume that your character has been abducted by GLaDOS for the purpose of testing.

Testing? What kind of testing? She's not going to cut my character open, is she?
Nope! GLaDOS is a very hands-off experimenter. In the original Portal game, she essentially created obstacle courses for the player to get through to locate the exit...and the obstacles became increasingly deadly.

How does this translate into Ariel? GLaDOS still wants to torture people test their sexual stamina, creativity, and the limits of what they find arousing. Her ostensible goal is to then create fabulous sex toys for the Ariel market...but really, she just likes making people suffer.

She also has a second bedroom in her townhouse that she uses for certain, more personal tests.

Yeah, tests. Tell me more about them.

She will do hands on experiments with volunteer test subjects. (Example) She is voyeur-sexual, so she vastly prefers watching people have sex or pleasure themselves while she masturbates to actually having sex with someone, but she will get hands on if necessary. (See her permissions post and tmi meme for more information on GLaDOS' sexuality and preferences)

She may also kidnap test subjects. Kidnapped test subjects never see her face. She is a disembodied voice in a room giving them instructions. (Example)

After the test is complete, she gives kidnapped test subjects a drug that knocks them unconscious and erases their memory of the event.

MEMORY ERASURE?!
You, of course, determine how much your character remembers of the test. The only thing they definitely cannot remember (unless we talk about it beforehand) is that GLaDOS is the person who kidnapped them.

What's the purpose of these logs?
Do you really want your character to try pegging, but know that he would never consent to being fucked up the ass? GLaDOS will lock your character in her laboratory and not let him out until he's pegged himself silly.

Do you and another player have characters who you really want to sleep with each other, but you can't figure out a way to get them together? GLaDOS will lock them in her lab and force them to do all sorts of nasty things to each other unless they want to be poisoned with deadly neurotoxin.

Basically, these logs are a way for you to get your characters to do things sexually that they would never freely consent to. Or maybe things that they would consent to, but are scared to try on their own.

So wait, I can test with a partner?
Yep! In fact, the majority of the tests are with a partner and with minimal involvement from GLaDOS. You can either already have someone in mind or dip into the partner testing pool. Being pro-active about finding a scene partner is a lot more effective than saying you're open to one and then waiting for one to come by.

How does testing with a partner work?
With a lot of OOC communication, much the same as any testing thread. The one thing I cannot stress enough, though, is to communicate directly with your OOC!partner. You don't need to run messages through me. Talk to each other about what you want from the scene. My job is just to make that happen.

What about during the thread?
Don't wait for me! Think of the testing thread as mainly a log between you and your partner, and don't worry about leaving time for me to jump in. Canonically, GLaDOS is extremely hands off during tests, only rarely offering comments and almost never offering hints. I will jump in every once in awhile to offer a snarky comment or give insight into what GLaDOS thinks about what's going on during the test, but the focus of these tests is on your characters. It's all about you, baby.

If you get stuck and your characters refuse to advance in the test, please ping me. I sometimes lose track of these 3 person threads and don't always know when I need to step in. (Again, OOC communication is the sine qua non of these testing threads.)

Great! How do I sign up?
There will be an OOC announcement/sign up post the week BEFORE the log goes up. When signing up, please give me the following information:

Your character
Your plurk or preferred method of contact (in case I need to ping you for OOC coordination)
Date you're claiming
Willing participant or kidnap victim?
Kink you WANT to play (if there is no kink you specifically want to play, just list a few of your favorite kinks)
Kinks you DO NOT WANT (or things you just don't want done to your character, like no anal sex)
Alone or with another character? (If with another character, please let me know if you have a character in mind already, or if you're dipping into the partner testing pool)


Then what?
When the log goes up, I'll respond to your comment on the sign-up entry with the initial testing details. Most of the time, your character(s) will be waking up in GLaDOS' test chamber; in the few instances where you wake up somewhere else, I will let you know in that initial comment. I'll tell you what they're wearing, if they have any sex toys in/on them, and any other notable features about the room that they would notice upon waking up.

If you'd like to change anything, please tell me! If you're not comfortable with something in that initial set-up, or if it's not quite what you had in mind for the test, let me know and I am more than happy to come up with something else.

Once you have the initial details, tag your character into the log and then GLaDOS will give them the rest of the details about the test.

Okay, I've done all that and wow this thread just got really uncomfortable for me.
If at any point anything happens in any tag that you are even mildly uncomfortable with, please let me know. I am more than happy to edit tags if you don't like the way a test is going, or find a reason for GLaDOS to end the test early. ("Shit, I'm late for work! Time to end the test!")

You are always and forever in charge of what happens to your characters. GLaDOS may give no fucks about your comfort, but I do. I am a big fuzzy bundle of love and care and I want you to be happy with your testing experience. ♥
